Sometimes I wonder what I’ve done to irritate you so,
To make you wish the worst for me and think I am your foe.
But it no longer bothers me as it did yesterday,
It’s hard to remain angry with someone for whom you pray.
I used to feel resentment and would try to dissapate
My feelings by an act of will which didn’t work too great.
At last I listened to the Lord who pointed out the way…
It’s hard to remain angry with someone for whom you pray.
It seems to give you pleasure to say things that aren’t true
And then defend yourself by saying, ‘Others misconstrue.’
It’s hard for me to understand this game you like to play.
I’ll just obey my Lord’s command and for you I will pray.
My Lord is the Good Shepherd, who some folks hate and mock,
And so He feels an empathy for pain felt in His flock.
Yet He is ever calling to those sheep who are astray –
The God who loves me loves you too! and so for you I’ll pray.

27“But to you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you. 28Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you.
Luke 6:27,28 NLT
3So Jesus told them this story: 4“If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? 5And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders. 6When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’ 7In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!
Luke 15:3-7 NLT
