Pray by being still.

Be still and know that I am God…’ Psalm 46:10

‘Be still’   Strong’s Hebrew 7503: Sink, relax

Different Bible versions translate this as:  be still’ NIV;  cease striving NASB‘let go (of your concerns)’ GW;  or ‘Be in awe’ ISV  ...and know that I am God.

Sometimes I just like to rest in God’s presence, to be still, and to listen.

The Lord is my Shepherd;

        I have all that I need.

   He lets me rest in green meadows;

        He leads me beside peaceful streams.

   He renews my strength…        Psalm 23:1-3

God talks to us through the Holy Spirit, creation and His Word. When we wait upon Him and listen, His voice can be heard through these things.

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. (John 10:27)   “The heavens are telling you the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.”(Psalm 19:1).     ...I have hidden your word in my heart. (Psalm 119:11)

“I am the Lord your God. I am holding your hand, so don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.” (Isaiah 41:13)  Contemporary English Version

“Praise the Lord, Who carries our burdens day after day; He is the God Who saves us.”   (Psalm 68:19)

Our God is an awesome God. He lets me rest in green meadows; He leads me beside peaceful streams; He renews my strength. When I walk through the valleys He is with me. When I fall down He picks me up. (Psalm 23)  He holds my hand. He carries my burdens. He is my hiding place, my refuge, my peace and shelter in the storm.

“You are my hiding place! You protect me from trouble, and You put songs in my heart because You have saved me.”   (Psalm 32:7)   Contemporary English Version

God is our refuge.

You are my hiding place.
